A Nice Surprise! An 1878 VAM-123 Hit List 40, And Very Rare!

Got this as an unattributed coin from a coin dealer on whatnot as they were selling through a stack of Morgan's and bought this with a nice 1879 as a pair. Paid $57.50 per coin.
Well, starting the process of attribution led me to the specialty vams first to knock those out, but lo and behold, I looked at VAM 123 first, and it turned out to be a complete lock on that VAM! One PUP is the coin is prooflike, and both sides have evidence of that, but hard to see through the toning.
