Why does no one hardly ever mention CCCS for grading ? Are they not as good or what?

I think that they just aren't as well known. I have visited their site and though ICCS is considered the be all and end all for grading in Canada I do have to admit that CCCS seems much more professional. Having a website, and proper information available to customers is a huge difference from ICCS where you can only call and hope to get an answer.
I can't comment on the consistency or accuracy of their grades as I have not sent anything in. The webiste is nice though.

I believe CCCS is far superior to collectors when compared to ICCS. Here is why I belive this A) CCCS is accountable on-line to it's customers, ICCS is not B)CCCS has taken steps (thru progression) to protect collectors from fraud/holder tampering ICCS has done nothing. C) Grading is at par between CCCS and ICCS. The stability in numismatics has been shaken by holder tampering as well as holder counterfeiting, BOTH ICCS, Not CCCS. Yes, I concede that the resale value of ICCS Cert. coins is higher, that is just (in my opinion) the reflex action of a buying public that turns a blind eye to change, even if the change is for the better. CCCS is accountable, trust worthy and approachable. As with PCGS in the USA, they answer to the customer/collector, not the dealer. Just my thoughts.

Just my .02, but I see ICCS-graded coins selling faster on ebay than other TPGs (except perhaps the PCGS/NGC)

CCCS is great, for all the reasons as stated by Gopher, plus they have nice hard slabs available.I have been pleased with their grading, definitely on par with ICCS,and will be sending them another batch of 50 when I have more time in the fall. The only downside is that presently ICCS coins are more saleable, but I feel this will change in the long run as Canadian collectors want a more accountable and progressive Canadian TPG service. P.S. CCCS also recognises, and will slab, more varieties than ICCS,

I have close to 800 graded coins. I see no difference between the grading abilities of both firms. I agree CCCS grades more varieties. However CCCS graded coins get less in the market than ICCS. Solution. Buy the CCCS graded and resubmit to ICCS :))

Silly, that just seems silly......LOLOL CCCS needs to be recognized for the quality they deserve, I think you attempted to do that, but then blew it away with the final comment. ICCS could care less about a collector. Only making money for retirement. I have called ICCS for a cert. number varification of date and denomination..... I was told.....Not right now............ Gee, I do not buy sell or trade in ICCS. My loss, maybe! You bet. But, my aires will know that the CCCS coins I own are legit, accountable and saleable for 20 years. Can you say that about ICCS in 5 years? HMMMMMMMMM Just a thought.

Hello,
People I trust say that both CCCS and ICCS grade by relatively similar, conservative Canadian standards. CCCS has the same basic problem as ICCS, it is essentially a one man (grading) operation, with all that implies. It has the additional problem that the man grading at CCCS is a major auctioneer and his auctions are loaded with coins he grades.
ICCS is like PCGS + NGC is to the US. It takes years to gain that level of reputation. CCCS may make it, it may not. It will be several more years before that is clear.

If I am not mistaken has not ICCS been in business since the 80s?

New to this site for posts, but extremely active Canadian collector that posts almost exclusively on the Canadian Coin Reference Site (CCRS). I think that CCCS will attain the same level of acceptance (and resale value) that has been ICCS's forte for years. For all the reasons mentioned above .... slab quality, accountability, website, varieties, etc ... and Louis is just a really conscientious honest guy who is trying to better and standardize the Canadian grading regimen. I think that he is now even more conservative than ICCS (where I have seen inklings of grading creep)

Grading creep is an XF-40 10 years ago that's now an AU. It's the same as school grading creep, where an 80 used to be the absolute bottom of the B's and now is an A here in Canada.

What CCCS needs (IMO) is to get some rare, valuable, and sought after coins in their holders, and on the market. Right now all I'm seeing is run-of-the-mill type stuff that isn't drawing much attention.
