(please forgive the photos - I'm having a manic moment)

Okay... so, would love some input on this one. Seems to me to be a 1942 Washington struck on a nickel planchet. Not sure whether it's a "silver nickel" planchet or nickel.

The photos with the beef-a-lo nickel and clad quarter are for size comparison only. Weight on my scale is 5.8 grams. I get the condition is terrible.

I will try to take better pics shortly. In the comparison pics the coin in question is in the middle.

Cheers. cb

Looks like an old Dryer Coin! Pretty cool.

To CCF! Probably a Dryer Coin. It's PMD, not a mint error. It's still worth silver melt value though, as it's 90% silver.

As Marve said, this is a post mint damaged silver quarter of the dryer damage type. Your weight measurement seems normal for that coin.

I agree, Dryer Coin or spooned. It's an old silver coin, so it's always possible that someone was starting to make a ring by spooning it. Worth a nice payout at current silver prices.

Yeah, one of those things where I thought the $10 might be fun.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge. And the welcome. I appreciate it.

So what if I soaked it in water? Would it go back to it's original form?

(Marv, nice score on the "BIE" by the way.)
