this is from the end of a roll of US Mint 2009 P Lincoln "Professional Life" pennies.

I noticed some unusual shine on a few spots and as I looked closer, this is what I found....

I have no clue. can't find any examples.

IMO it's a strike-through w/retained wire

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

To CCF! Looks like some kind of staining or spots. Not an error. PMD. The shiny spots look like rainbow toning.

TY! :)

I appreciate your reply.

Just curious on PMD when it's been in a roll?

and I scratched tested it with a toothpick and it's raised. I think it's something embedded. there's a few other places that are difficult to get to for pics but what it looks like is the "shiny" spots are weaving in and out of the surface.

they look like scrapes with moved metal (raised) I*s this coin you are showing the ender in the roll?
The colors are quite striking, is that how they look in hand? Or are they camera artifacts?

With photos of the reverse of the coin...I'm thinking wrapper damage. Then on the obverse IMO scrapes ( PMD) with the zinc core showing and some toning thrown in.

opened the roll.

the shiny stuff that was exposed is also a ring. So, the wrapper might have caused the ring but the shiny stuff on the letters and numbers that wasn't rubbing the wrapping is a riddle. It looks like "retained wire"
