Finally hit the bottom of the jar, found this one.
looks like some sort of foreign body is stuck under the bow tie.
What would it look like if a small piece of the die got embedded in the coin?

It looks like it might be some substance stuck to the coin. You could try soaking it in acetone for 24 hours. Likely will come off.

I agree. Looks like something is on the coin like gunk. Try soaking it in pure acetone.
