I'm trying to determine whether this 1883 Three-Cent Nickel is a business strike or a proof and would appreciate some experienced opinions.

You can see the two die cracks on the reverse that's consistent with the business strikes.

Yes, ordinarily die cracks would indicate a business strike, as it's highly doubtful that the dies would have cracked during the striking of proof issues. However, this is one of the rare cases in which there were fewer business strikes (4000) than proofs (6609) - unless Numista is incorrect.
Your coin is in excellent condition!

To CCF! It's a Business Strike. Here's what the proof looks like. https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explor...n-pf/?des=pf

True, but I'm amazed at how well defined the roman numerals are.
