No, isn't a Dryer Coin. Sanded, ground down, under some kind of table leg - but definitely PMD (Damage) EDIT: Quote: before I send this thing off to get graded as I was told to do. Whoever told you to get it graded don't talk to them anymore

to the CCF No, it is not a Dryer Coin. It's a damaged quarter, value is 25 cents. It would be a waste of money to send this off for grading. Don't do it.

@metal, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with the above answers that this is mechanically damaged. In the end though, it doesn't really matter how it was damaged as this damage ensures that this coin is only worth face value. You can safely spend it.

Whoever told you to send it of to be graded knows nothing about coins. There is no way for that to happen when the coin was struck. It is damage plain and simple.

Quote:No, isn't a Dryer Coin. Sanded, ground down, under some kind of table leg - but definitely PMD (Damage) Yes, that is correct. getting it graded would just be a MASSIVE waste of money for you. This quarter was intentionally damaged 'After' it left the mint.

As others have mentioned, yours is a damaged coin. You did the right thing posting before sending it off to be graded. Nobody wants to see a collector lose money grading the wrong coins, so keep asking.

to the Community. I agree with everyone above, this is a tooled coin, mechanically made to look this way and it did not leave the mint looking like this and now considered a damaged coin.

Just like you were told by everyone on the facebook group, it's damage.

It is intriguing how the wear/damage on the obverse is only around the edges and not on the normally high points (Washington's head). On the reverse, the wear/damage in mostly in the center of the coin. This actually could be a " Dryer Coin" where the coin was stuck in somehow where the wear was restricted to just those areas.

To CCF! Just a badly damaged quarter. It's all PMD, not an error. Don't get it slabbed. It would be a huge waste of money and time. Worth 25 cents.

I'm liking the table leg theory, where there was a small relief recess on the leg itself.
