For the last several weeks, I have been searching $50 in dimes in addition to my customary $20 in nickels. Each week, I generally find 1-4 modern doubled door DDR nickels. However, I have never found even a single dime with even tiny doubling on the center leaf.

I had assumed that the find rate would be approximately the same. But I am also now noticing that nobody on this board ever posts about DDR dimes, and a handful of us post about DDR nickels.

Are the doubled leaf dimes really that rare?

I searched a box of dimes once and came up with 1 DDR with doubling on the leaf. There are more years with the nickels than the dimes to find the doubling and I believe more different DDRs on the nickel than on the dimes. For example, for 2013, there are 11 DDRs on nickels but only 2 on dimes.

I don't know either!
All I know: I CRH one bank box of dimes - and it was the most boring CRH I've encountered!!
(But I did find three silvers, so, I guess it wasn't REALLY that bad )

VV has lots of DDRs listed for the Philly Mint from 1946 to 1967 - almost every year had at least one, Why are they so hard to find?

Well, let's exclude everything before 1965. I've found a single silver dime in circulation. I was mostly talking about the 2004-2025 dimes. The listings seem to exist, but unlike 2006-2020 nickels, I have never found a single WDDR. I will keep looking, but like Snailking said, dime rolls seem to be boring to coin roll hunt.

That's an interesting observation Brand. I don't search enough dimes to offer any insight.
I've found other types of varieties on modern dimes, but they were by "accident", while looking over pocket change.

Feeder finger scrapes and an incuse leaf (probably a "dropped" leaf from mint grease) come to mind.
