Purchased on ebay for $15, already identified as a die clash. The marks show best above the rays of the crown, through the $1, under the arm, and through Washington's eye.

What I find interesting is the scratches moving one direction above the $1, and another direction through the arm. Those look like classic scratches from die clash removal. Does the Mint even do that anymore in the 21st century?

I do not understand the question. Is there a 21st century way to do it that I'm not aware of?

What I meant is that I don't recall seeing clash removal scratches on 21st century dies. Certainly not the patches of intense scrubbing that are common on pre-1990 coins. I had assumed that dies are so much cheaper and easier to make now that the Mint might just toss them after an intense clash is detected.

Great observation, I have not noticed the lack of polishing lines to remove clash remnants on the more modern coins (probably from lack of looking for them )

Here are a couple I pulled up quickly from previous finds I already had downloaded on the site. Some concentric die scratches that I think I have several of and a very heavily abraded die from 2020. I have tossed so many 21st century highly abraded coins it's not funny, just posted these at some point because they were unusual, very common though, in my opinion. Maybe not as much as in the past though....
