Big believer in 'buy the books before the coins', any advanced/specialist books that are a must own on the Canadian tokens? Like what Breen (#128530;#129326;) did for large cents?

If / when you start to collect by variety within a series:

St. George Slaying the Dragon Tokens by Franck Fortin - expanded study of the work by Dr. Courteau.
Various works by Ingram & Marelic:
- PEI Ships Colonies & Commerce - expanded study of Judge Lees
- PEI Tokens not included above
- Wellington Tokens
- Nova Scotia Provincial Half & One Pennies
- Bust & Harps
- Tiffins
- New Brunswick Provincial Half & One Pennies

Also, if in Canada you should contact https://richardstockleybooks.com/ They setup at most Canadian shows and usually older original editions of Courteau, Lees, Breton, LeRoux, etc.

Christopher Faulkner issued detailed studies on PEI Holey Dollars; PEI Ships Colonies & Commerce; and Tokens of Upper Canada.

These tomes are more than just listings. They also include stories of the who, what, when, how, where, and why.

Depending on how deep the OP wants to go, there is also Haxby's "Canadian Coins and Tokens". It's really not down heavy in-depth, but a good overview of many of the Canadian Tokens, with Breton and Withers numbers when available. It's a handy book to have, because it also has a complete section of regular coinage, including sets and test tokens. It's a great book to have handy, but not for deep variety collectors.
