I know this is a 1587 German Nuremberg jetton but thats really about all I cant find out what it might actually be worth, or if its even all that rare. The very neatly drilled hole has also got me stumped, as to the possibility of it being some kind of copy.

Hello there,
The Jeton is not rare and therefore there is no reason to suspect it is a copy (Just in case, an authentic Jeton, as this one should weight about 3.8 Grams). I can give you more information about this Jeton if you like (It is indeed Nuremberg Jeton).
This Jeton worth around 10/15$ up to 30$ (At the most, in a very good day) in this state.
Have a good day,
C. Eliyahu.

Hi Texan,
You're right it is a very nice Jeton with lot of history but poor value (In this state). I have some Jetons such as this in my coll' also, that have same value (More or less). I also have Roman coins from the Jewish revolt against Rome in my collection called Prutot (Prutah in singular). They are over 1900 years old but still worth only 10-50$ (Depend on the state of the coin).
You can find your Jeton on Mitchner NO' 1456 or in Neumann NO' 32204. Your Jeton was made by Kilian Koch (1587-1632)
Sorry for the bad news and enjoy the Jeton and it's hestory,
C. Eliyahu.

I've never heard of anyone making fake jetons - they're just not popular enough as collector items.

"Chilianvs Coqvvs" is the Latinized name of the jeton-master who issued it, Kilian Koch. "Noribergensis" is Latinized "of Nuremberg". "Firmabo", also Latin, apparently means "I shall see".

This example of your type sold for 50 euros; presumably it was unholed. It also gives a catalogue reference: "SMM 45". This example on Tantalus sold for $19 on ebay; Tantalus rates it "scarce".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

In this state (Holed + has 2 hits on both sides, one large and one small) this Jeton will never sale over 30$, I'm sorry. The Jeton you've gave reference to, is in better condition than this one and sold for only 19$, if it was "Scarce", as Tantalus said, it would have make hundreds of $$. Tantalus claim is therefore wrong. All the Examples of this Jeton that I've seen never sold over 50 Euros (The one that did sold at this price is a kind of world record for this type), that is to say the one that sold for 50 Euros was in super high grade - must have been in very high grade to make that high.

Jetons by there nature of use where struck in very large quantities in very most cases. The ones that are sold for 100$ or more, mostly sale for this amount strictly because of there beauty (Again, in most cases), because of there connection to one country or another (That draw collectors of coins of the country or have special feature that collectors are keen for.

This Jeton is far from being considered scarce or rare.

I've added picture of one of the Jetons I have (I'm not collector of Jetons, but I have some). This is also nuremberg jeton, made by Hans the second and also frm around the same date as yours.
Even with the beautiful details and nice patina, and have the "Manet Vltima coelo" (Latin for "made to the highest standard") I don't see it make much over 30$ (In a very good summer day) . Even if I claim it is "Scarce" hundreds of times.
