I am very very new to coin collecting. I really want to get into it. And I am young. Probably years younger than all of you. I found a Kennedy half dollar from 1972. There is no mint under Kennedy's head. No P or D or S nothing. I dont think it is worn off. Is this worth anything? Thanks alot from a newb at coin collecting

usually a coin without a mint mark is from philadelphia. I am not sure about halves but most coinage from philadelphia has no mint mark at all and if its the same as that then that is what you have and not worth anything but 50 cent

Welcome to our CC family, Laxmaster!

We're always happy to welcome young collectors. Please post any and all questions you have. I strongly recommend buying a Red Book Guide to US coins. This book is produced annually. The 2007 edition is due out this month, so I would wait for that one. This book gives you an overview of the various US coins (including colonial and post-colonial issues). The cover price is only $14.95 and it is a great buy for the money. Once the new edition is released, you should be able to find it at any book or coin store.

I'm looking forward to your questions and contributions here. It won't be long before you find that you can start answering others' questions.
