Found this 98 Wide AM this afternoon

It's by far the best Wide AM I've found of any year 98,99 or 2000 grade wise.

It has a greenish/purple spot on the reverse in between the E&S of States (NOT VERDIGRIS) and some spots by the AM on the reverse also, but overall it has real nice lustre and eye appeal and the details are very sharp.

Think this would grade out in the MS area?

That's a keeper. I've found so many of the 98s that I no longer retain them unless they are a high BU condition. My personal feeling is the 98s are easier to find than the 2000s. 37 verses 14. When all is said and done, I just don't believe these wide AMs are going to amount to much. 99s being an exception, only 3 of those so far.

That's about 100% more than I've found MorgansRmine.

My count is the opposite.

I have more 2000's than 98's- at last count over twenty 2000's versus seven of the 98's and I've only found one 99.

I'll hold on to any new one's I'm lucky enough to find, regardless of grade. :)

rocks, checked your profile, I see why. I've 4 that I'm about to toss out if you want them. Not the best best but wide.

chuckster, being retired, I go through between 3 to 5 thousand a week and haven't found a 2000 in a couple of months. Weird.

chuckster125,
I noticed that no one gave you a grade on you coin.If you found it in your change or a circulated bank roll then technically it can't be an Unc. or MS,but I would say it's definitely AU58 if not a MS60. Keep in mind I am not a pro.

MorgansRMine:

Same here.

I'm also retired and I usually go thru $10.00 a day, 7 days a week.
A TD bank by me is open on Sundays also!

Definitely goes in spurts on finding Wide AM's (98's and 2000's)

I have gone 2/3 months + without finding any and then in the space of a few days end up finding a couple. You just don't know what's going to surface everytime you open a roll, that's one of the things (IMHO) which makes this hobby so great!

Hmm...my numbers.

1998 - 2.
1999 - 0.
2000 - 2.

The grade of the coin in the first post of this thread appears to be MS65RD.
