I have gotten four silver dimes including one Merc in change from different stores around town in the last week. Prior to this, I do not remember the last silver coin gotten from change. Makes me want to run to the bank and buy boxes of dime.

I actually got a 1964 a couple of months ago. "The Great Change Jar Dump of 2008-09" does in fact continue.

Theres probably something to the theory , I've emptied a water cooler bottle 1/2 full of coins , if anybodys else uses these water bottles you'll know how many coins we are talking about here..thousands.
Other older change jars were dumped into it , all kinds of ways coins found there way in there. I done this as id bought some empty coin rolls for some loose dimes I had and I had to buy a huge bag of all denominations , so I figured why not roll them all and take to the bank , use the proceeds to get something nice..i like silver halfs and dimes..another bust would do me nicely.
About halfway through rolling them I noticed theres a lot of pre 80's lincolns , 70's , 60's , even some 50's and 40's. I dont have an exact number but so far out of 20 rolls of pennies 2 of them are strictly 70's and earlier. Im not a penny collector , thought about it as for sure now is the time to start , but with collecting jeffersons, all dimes.all halves and dollars too...well.. I did buy a couple 2009 rolls of pennys but I look on them as unique in that I will have rolls of the set made this year.A lot of Lincoln errors made in 2009 , why not.
I wondered if I were to put those two rolls of 70's and earlier pennies up for auction , would there be an interest ?

I believe ill do that then Jbuck , ill put them in the classifieds when I've done all the rolls. Its been fun and profitable so far , 10 rolls of clad dimes and 10 quarters , a dozen nickles and still only halfway. A few oddities , Canada and Britain , South Africa..pretty cool.

If I were you I would hit up the banks for rolls of dimes that have been brought in by other customers. I seem to have moderate luck with customer rolls. Much better than Brinks or bank wrapped ones.

Due to the economy and so many people out of work, old coins are and will be popping up continuously. Old jars, cans, boxes, etc of coins laying around for that rainy day are now being used. Home robberies, coin stores, coin shows and coins at flea markets are being robbed a lot more than meets the newsmedias. And most criminals are not numismatically minded so anything the steal goes out for spending.
