Terry you are absolutely right in your attitude towards coins

I was a stampcollector for 10 years because my uncle was a stampcollector . Unfortunately that collection is now worth about one tenth of the price I paid for it in 1970 currency if I count inflation
Lucky for me I stopped that collection because of lack of time .

What coins are concerned it is really the internet that started me as a collector and an american retired coindealer tought me all I want to know by exchanging pictures and explanations and photograding
I try to limit the premium I pay on coins because when I get into trouble those coins have to back me up

I said paper silver was not for me
Here is one of the reasons
The silver and gold slowly disappears as operating cost

Well we could go with "gold fever", "silver fever", "investment fever", messed up economies, inflation, war, indecision and fear for starters. Lack of faith in governments and fiat money would be another! Gosh the list could go on and on! Guess a large group of folks are looking for something we coin collectors already knew?
