I have an 1885 coin and would like to confirm if this is from Spain or was issued for Phillippine use. it is 29.5mm diameter by 2.2mm thick, on OBV side is "1885 Alfonso XII Por La G De Dios" with head bust sideways facing to your right. On the other side it's "Rex Const De Espana 50C De Peso" showing coat of arms with crown above and placed between two pillars. Was this used for the Philippine territory at the time or Spain? Thanks!

Philippines. KM#150. 1880-85 series. Krause says the 1885-dated coins were struck from 1885 till 1898.

Yep. Spanish colonies such as the Philippines used "pesos". Mainland Spain used "pesetas".

1885 date is very common as stated above they continued to mint this coin until 1898 all dated 1885. The rare or scarce dates for the 50c de peso are 1880 and 1884.

, to the community.

Sound like a 50 Centavo coin issued for use in the Philippines. If you could post a picture of the coin that would help to confirm it.
