I'm still playing with the scanner folks. Let me know if you get tired of it.

Using some tips and just getting started. I"m working on VERY basic software but using the tips. This Morgan actually represents the color of the coin.

I'm thinking you're getting this scanner stuff pretty well licked.

If I'm reading the scan right, it's a pretty strong MS64.

Very nice looking coin, your doing better with your scans than I am with my camera. I agree with Dave MS-64.

Maybe I'm off-base here, but I see what looks like significant wear on the obverse, on Liberty's cap, the cotton bolls, and the maple leaves. Some of the detail loss could be from strike weakness although Philly Morgans usually have at least an average strike. There are some discolored areas in the reverse fields that sure look like friction. I realize the scanner probably obliterates the luster which is usually the best indicator of mint-state vs. circulated. However, based on these otherwise excellent images I'd have to call this a circulated coin. AU-53 to AU-55 IMO.
