I don't know if there is a magic shop in your area but it would pay to go to one if you can find one. There are many, many tricks that involve coins. The shop by me has probably almost a hundred different tricks with coins and/or currency.
The one you sort of discussed may be the one with the Kennedy half hollowed out to hold the Mexican coin. Not sure how they make this one but one half of the Half is a hair larger than the other one. When the two halves are pressed together, they appear as one solid coin and you need a special plastic thing to separate them again. Done by placing the coin in this thing, slamming it down and the parts separate. You show people the one side of the Half with the Mexican coin on the other side but you do it by flipping it over so they think there are two coins there. You then flip that one side over and push together and the Mexican coin now vanishes. I purchased that exact one.
Some use this same one to make other coins vanish since it is hollow.
Like I said it is fun to visit one of those shops for coins. I really like the collection of two headed or two tailed coins there.
