I to, agree with wheat cents. The new designs are too crazy and the memorial reverse is too boring

Quote: Will LMCs ever be collectible like the Wheaties? Certainly they are just as collectible. I've enjoyed working on my high grade LMC set. But will they be as valuable as wheats? No.

Look at the prices being paid for the 1969-S DDO and several other's, Lincoln Memorial Cents already have a strong collector base. That said....I prefer the humble Wheatie too. ~ Jim

I guess I'm attracted to the lines in the wheats. But, it's too bad that the wheaties from the 40's and 50's are not as "wanted" as the earlier ones.

Quote: Will LMCs ever be collectible like the Wheaties? They are HIGHLY collectible, in fact, I'm sure they are more collected than Wheat cents. I've been working on an ultra-high grade collection of them for years. It's been FAR more challenging than my Wheats. I've spent more than 10x the time on my Memorial cent collection than my Wheat cent collection.

Hummmm....oddly, I don't know the exact number of dates and mints. I would guess close to 200? In my Excel sheet I have 216 rows taken, but I have quite a few duplicates.

Thad...do you really think Memorials are collected more that Wheaties?...hmm interesting. I guess it's how you define collecting, whether by quality, quanity, hoarding, ect... I would like to hear your thoughts tho.

Sorry yotie! This should help you. It's funny, I've asked this very question here and nobody could answer me.....or they did and were wrong. LOL I'm also including a nice picture of a true full steps circulated coin for reference. 1984 Course Steps Fine Steps Fine Steps Circulated Example

Think about it, EVERYONE has Memorial cents stashed somewhere. Millions of people have complete sets of them in things like Whitman folders too.

Well, I must say I started collecting in 1963, my 1st Whitman album was for the Lincoln cents. I like the LWC and I like the LMC, I also collect them both, in albums and roll sets, I think I enjoy the older coins for the simple, classic design, I enjoy the post 1959 coins for their bold, outstanding design, that said, I like them both for different reasons, I would also state that while I enjoy the older coins, I think I enjoy collecting the LMC'S THE BEST!!!
