I only have a few coins Air-Tites and they are all direct fit. For some reason, I am skeptical about the foam's safety.

Direct fit is my prefrence when I use them. The foam inserts react and cause ring discoloration, not to be confused with toning, or I'd have everything in them. LOL nlp

Another vote for Direct-Fit. They allow more flexibility as far as how you want to store/display them.

If you collect Classic US and/or foreign coins, the direct fit come in much more limited sizes. You may be forced to use a ring type holder, for, as an example, a US Half Dime. This goes in a 15mm holder which is not available in direct fit.

I use direst fit whenever I can. I'm concerned about the long term effects of foam in contact with the coin. May not be an issue but why take the chance. The new SAC proof doesn't fit in the small dollar holders because of those little bumps ont he side. I use ring type for those or carboard flips.
