I have a 1979 proof set and I cant decide what to call it. I thought it first it was a type 1 b/c 5/6 coins had filled S. Then I noticed the nickel was a clear S Can I get some help? I thought they were either type1 or type2.

There are tons of hybrid 1979 sets.

Start with the penny (oops - 1 cent piece) and move up. They will all be the same until...... you find the other type.

The way they were produced, the lower denominations were produced longer with the SBA being the one that had the least produced.

Another example of modern rarities that aren't being collected that much.

They are only considered to be a Type II set if ALL of the coins are type II mintmarks. All other sets are priced as Type I sets. A mentione earlier all of the coins did not change from Type I to type II at the same time. In general the cents went first and the dollar went last. So you can find "type I" sets with anywhere from 0 to 5 Type II coins in them.
