Yep. Fine - maybe down to VG.

I see it as a VG8. It seems that too many of the finer details are worn smooth for a Fine. I'm glad that darkside coins are being posted here now. I have a lot to learn in grading these.

Ok, I give this one a gFine.
Nice even wear, no major distracting features, rims are in fairly good condition and the design is full.

Sorry. I disagree. VG8. The denticles are quite worn, starting to be indistinct in places. All the vegetation, obverse and reverse, is flat and without detail The portrait seems weak as well, but I'd rather see what it's supposed to look like.

Here is a later coin to give you an indication of what it should look like. Steve

Looks Islamic. A stab in the dark would be F. The obverse (?) seems VF. I'd go gF but for the worn region on the reverse (?).

Lim,
I promised myself I would not grade really old coins. So I will leave that one to someone else.
For the 1925 I would need a closer look to grade it properly. (as you said half a grade can make a big difference).

This silver coin is a 1 Ruppee from the Baroda State of India circa 1750's. One of the many types of coins used in Australia to facilitate trade back in the days when we were still wearing "balls & chains" on our ankles as we did not have our own coinage system. To cut a very long history short, Governor King proclaimed this one as an official currency of the Colony with a value of 2 shillings 6 pense. It is one of our "Proclamation Coins" and is quite scarce.

Lim #1: Sorry, Lim, but I can't zoom in close enough to see - the fine detail in the pic has been compressed away. It's hard to be sure on that one. From what I can see, it looks in the VF range.
Lim #2: Ah, an Indian States rupee. Hard enough to identify, let alone grade. You pretty much have to assume anything that looks like wear is actually wear, even though they had a tendency to use worn dies until they physically broke. Grading is usually done on the more lenient, "hammered" scale.
Yours looks like Jodhpur (KM#187), year 16, circa 1872 AD (The lower picture is upside down). I'd grade it VF - most of the detail looks nice and round (not flat).
Value for coins like this depends as much on how well-centred the coin is and whether or not the key identifying and date marks are present on the coin, or "off the flan". This one is reasonably well centred - you can see the two identifying marks (the 7-leafed-branch on the top pic, the sword-with-circular-handle on the bottom). The date mark 16 (looks like "17") at the tip of the sword is readable, if somewhat worn/weakly struck.

Whups, sorry, Lim, didn't mean to contradict you. Guess I should have hit the "refresh" button before I posted - it took me awhile to find that there coin.
