I know the pic is not the best, just wanted to see if anyone here can accurately grade this series. This is the only coin of the series I own, and just picked it up this past weekend. It is headed for my type set!
It is graded by ANACS ? You tell me.

Because of the wear on the word LIBERTY and bust. I would say F-12.

TPGs are known to overgrade these coins. I tend to agree with shadow, and can see this in a VF-25 or VF-30 slab.

Yeah, I'm no good with this series and could see this as a sheldon F-15 or VF-20, but definitely VF-25 minimum in the ANACS slab.

I would guess VF-25 or MS-64 depends on weather or not its for sale on ebay.

Ouch. Some harsh graders out there. I must defend my coin a bit. The pic is not the best, (I admit it, I am working on my photography skills) with the shot being slighly out of focus it dulls up the detail in the hair and bust. All letters of liberty are visible with the B being worn the most. The fields are basically clean...

Maybe we're seeing a lot of scrapes on the slab, and whatnot. The fields look messy from the photos.

It could be a weak strike as well. Is there any luster? If so, the grade could go up dramatically. Details wise though, I still say mid VF. Definitely better than F-12 in my humble opinion. :-)

I have an 1839-O quarter eagle graded VF-35 by PCI, in the old green-label slab. I think it is properly graded for detail and your coin may have just a bit less wear. Therefore I'd call it VF-35 to EF-40. It should work fine for your type set.

The pic is slightly out of focus which dulls some detail, all letters of liberty are visible but the B shows most wear. The fields are clean.

You did well then cownas.:-) That is pretty much the grade I'd expect from ANACS for this coin.
