just wondering what some of the best deals on coins or currency people here have had.
I will start:
The best deal I ever had was a 1902 $20.00 national bank note from the Franklin National Bank in Newark Ohio. I got it at an auction for $7.50

I know I've had better deals, but the one that always sticks in my memory is a 1906H 50c from Liberia for 20c. The coin had a mintage of only 24,000 and is pretty big and silver (.3450 oz). Most collectors wouldn't care too much about this one, but it was among my earlier purchases and really struck me.

Nice.

Best deal?
Not sure, but I have gotten a number of nice cherrypicks:
1864 L Indians, a total of #9 pieces purchased as no L's over the years. Best was a VF. and a F-12 for $10.
1858/7 Flying eagles, #3 pieces, including F, VF, XF.

Favorite?
1909 S VDB purchased as an '09 S, in 1996. Now in an NGC holder F-12.
Cost? $40, plus the slab.

My best deal was when I bought a £1 coin (British) for 50 euro cents. The xchange rate at the time being £1 = €1.20. Can't do much worse than that, especially as I spent the €1 coin!
The guy was also selling 1p coins for the same price, he did not know or care about their worth.

I've had two; one of which I actually knew I had found something!

The one I knew I had something good was a 1926d Lincoln that I guessed was MS60RB for seven cents in the assorted Wheaties bin (ended up slabbing as a MS63RB, CW Trends value $200)

The one that I had no idea about was a holed 1854O quarter with a plugged hole from a coin shop junk type coin bin for $10. Don't know why I was attracted to it; it had decent detail, and I just liked the look of it. Turned out to be the "Huge O" variety ($1000 in Good)
