Opinions On This Morgan: Toned? DMPL? MS-63?

I couldn't call that coin a PL, much less DMPL, based on those pictures. The pics need to be set up so that the reflectivity is visible, the best way to do that is have text reflected. The furthest distance at which the text is readable in the reflection is what determines whether a coin is PL or DMPL. IIRC, it is something like 4"-6" minimum for PL and 8"-12" for DMPL. Of course, that means that PL or DMPL is very difficult to judge from pictures alone.

if you look at my dansco7070 album (from the link in my signature) and scroll down to the Morgan dollar you will see the Obverse of the 1881 Morgan showing the reflectivity. Something like that is what is needed in a picture to show the depths of the mirrors if not better
