I may have posted this one before but I am not sure. I am hoping for a grade estimate and a type (lg or sm date?)

thanks

This might grade F-15, but for the pitting I'd grade it as VG-10 damaged. Looks like the large date variety.

thank you echizento. I'm not too sure what vg-10 damaged would mean. Does that mean that the value is more around a G value instead or just discounted from the VG value? I'm not so great at valuing damaged coins which is probably why this one has been sitting in a blank 2x2 with no info on it. lol

I would agree on a large date variety, but I would grade this coin G-6 it's a shame of the marks on the obverse, otherwise a nice coin.

thanks shafta9a It is a shame that it got all dinged up. I wish I knew what happened there. But still seems to hold decent value for a large date and I can always put it in an album with the nice side showing. :)

I gave it a grade of VG-10, the next grade above that would be F-12 (fine) and so on. Without the damage I think the coin might have graded F-12, but because of the damge VG-10.

The 5 in the date looks like a large date but the rest of it looks like a small comparing it to one here https://www.jandm.com/script/getite...CID=3&PID=82

this is the diagnostic image that has me intrigued. Not sure what I think now as it doesn't exactly match any of the 3. what do you think?

Judging by that ball serif on that 5 I would say large b/c on the large ones I have seen it has that big serif on the bottom of the 5, iif you know where I am talking about. Your 5 is for sure large date 5 compared to the small date one

to be quite honest , I beleive it is the small date.. I have owned at least 4 Large dates and when comparing them to each other they all have the same tell tales signs.... The spacing between each # in the date is much closer than on the small date... As for grade VG at best without the damage.. If I'm wrong and it turns out to be a LG date then even with the marks it is still a nice coin to own.

it appears to be the small date.
VG-10 without the damage.
Still a keeper in my book
