Don't have a clue on this one--just noticed it tonight, and it definitely looks like a double. Hard to tell from just one pic, I need to stop by toys-r-us & snag one of those microscopes! lol--soon.

The whole "In God We Trust" appears to have doubling (in-hand, of course). Will try to get better pics soon!

I think what you are looking at is Machine Doubling, if it were anything else it would be prominent even in the pictures. Machine Doubling is very common and brings no premium to the coin. I am in no way a expert but just stating my opinion from what I have learned while being on this forum and hopefully others will answer you on this so I can see what they have to say also

realatoinwi, I've been looking at your picture and would lean to agreeing with byrn1315's opinion that your coin is showing the effects of ' Machine Doubling' adding no addional value.tips that my help is to veiw your coin focusing on the doubled parts too determine whether or not tey are flat looking verses being rounded: as doubled dies exhibit rounding effects.also look at the (in this case) the ( .top.)letters having second devices that are parallel to the devices(.bottom.) like the E having two parallel devices would likely show same doubling on top of middle(short arn) of E and the lowest(bottom)part of E.on the upper part of these devices same as the top parts that are doubled ..hope that this makes some sortta sense..on the up side there are at least two doubeled dies for the 97-P linc's one being the doubled ear and second one doubled IN GOD WE TRUST area same as yours...bear in mind this is just my Two Cents worth for what it's worth I use a QX5 myself..

Thanks guys, I didn't know there actually were DD's for the 97's. I went on coppercoins' site and couldn't find any... Does anyone have a pic of the doubled ear? Or the other DD? Again, I'll try and take some better pictures asap--I'm pretty sure of what Machine Doubling is, but just can't tell without taking pictures through the loupe.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the info guys, I've pretty much got a good idea of what the difference is between machine & hub doubling; however, there are some instances where it's just not possible (for me) to tell the difference. This happens to be one of them. I'll need to search through the posts and find out what people are using for magnification purposes--I know I read one regarding a computer-ready microscope. This would help me immensely, as well as you, for picture purposes. If anyone knows of any good (yet inexpensive--yes, an oxymoron) microscopes which are computer-compatible, please let me know!

Thanks again for your time!
