A good read. I find it amazing that this guy just sat in his later years knowing he held one of the great pieces of modern numismatics. I would have blabbed to any one who believed me, and even some who wouldn't!

Quote: Wing took the coin to his local coin dealer, who made him a very generous offer for the time, $500, but Wing said he didn't want to sell the coin. Instead, he endeavored to learn more about it, writing to numerous experts and authorities in the succeeding decades. Smart, smart, smart!!

I am shocked that as a teenager he did not sell it for the $500, which would be equivalent to $6000 today.

I believe he sold it a short time later for $78,000. A quick $6000 profit.

Wow. If I had that kind of money I would have been willing to pay much more that $76,000, it is such a rarity. Great Story.
