This is not a coin, but some type of token of resent mintage.

Actually, it's a bronze follis from mediaeval Hungary, crudely imitating Byzantine and/or Venetian coin types, usually attributed to the reign of Bela III (1172-1196). Since CoinArchives is now out of action, there's an example here on the CalgaryCoin website.

These have indeed been faked in modern times but the fakes I've seen haven't been as heavily worn as this piece.

Thanks Sap, that makes a lot of sense. I actually got in in a lot with some medieval silver coins from a seller in Hungary.
