Got my handy-ANDA grading guide right here. Lets see... headband looks a bit weak. gFine, I'd reckon.

Looks a bit pale and washed out. Has it been cleaned, or have you either got tricky lighting and/or adjusted the brightness of the image?

Metalman, I too am stumped on this meaning. If Sap and KLD are suggesting that the coin is between good and fine, then wouldn't this be VG? I am not into grading, but the list I have in front of me shows this as being the grade between.

I too wait to be enlightened.

See if I can help a bit.

Australia in general do not use the term Good. Our grading as I know it starts at VG.

The term gF is a grade between Fine and Very Fine. A bit better then a fine and not as good as a VF.

If a more detailed explanation is needed more then happy to try.

let me know.

KLD, We do use the grading term "Good" - it just doesn't appear in the catalogues because coins graded below VG are considered "non-collectable". Grades below VG are "Good", "About Good" and/or "Fair", and "Poor".

gFine is "good Fine" - the intermediate grade between Fine and Very Fine. (on the Sheldon scale, it's F-15). I prefer gF than the equivalent aVF or "about/almost Very Fine", as it's slightly less prone to misinterpretation.

Sap just for a bit of fun, I will dis-agree with you for a moment (no harm intended).

I along with a few dealers do not grade a coin below aVG. The terms Good down to Poor are GENERALLY not used in Australia which is what I was referring to in my earlier post.

These terms I know are used by our American friends, I also believe that not all Europian nations use these extended grading terms either.

Reason being as you mentioned anything under a VG the coin exhibts unrecogniseable design and date therefore not collectable.
