Now thatens interesting! I dont know a thing about cents but it doesn't look damaged to me, it looks either like crud got into the reverse dies ir that D was double struck, I have no clue really but will await to see what the experts say. You can go to coppercoins website at coppercoins.com and punch in the date of that coin and see if there are any errors like that listed on his page for that date. he has a pretty good comprehensive page on most of the errors for lincoln cents, check it out, but until then I still wait to see what others say about the coin

I am going to say it was damaged after the mint. Look at the rim above the D. There are 4 marks there, 2 large, and 2 smaller ones. I think whatever did those also moved some metal around in the D.

I put up 12 rolls of penny every year ie bank wraped,or mint wraped since I was 15 years old, That coin came out of bank wraped shotgun roll. So if in damaged it was the counter from the bank? Maybe the bag before the bank I guest we never know untill I send to a graderwhat do you all think

I would edit your post amac with the correct spelling...
wrapped, not raped. I was just browsing through it pretty fast and I had to do a double take on that one.

I am normally not one to point out spelling mistakes, cuz I am sure I have quite a few, but there is one part is reads really bad if you just do some selective reading like I was doing.
