Any ideas on how to weigh your small coin shipments using your little digital scale? A large envelope would block the display. The only thing I can think of is to make a small cardboard "tower" and place the envelope on the tower and subtract the weight of the "tower". My main use of the scale would be to check for the 13 oz. limit (first class). Considering a couple of 600 gram Digiweigh scales on ebay that sell for $20. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I use the ones the post office has for shipping purposes. But then again I shipped 12 Lbs of coin today to one of our members. Thanks for the info errorfinder, does the one from Harbor Freight go down to 100ths of a gram? IE..like say 2.93g or something along that line?

Tim, it does not go to the 100ths of a gram. Here's the scale as advertised on ebay:

nancy,

Can you comfortably weigh a large envelope (12" X 8") on it and see the display?
If so, what is the brand name and model number -- I'll see if ebay has listings for it. Thanks

Have a look at these:

http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/ele...-calculator/

My set is identical, but only weighs to 3Kg, the circular glass top is 6.25 inches in diameter. I just put a large envelope on them, and the readout is easily visible. If the readout is obscured by the item to be weighed, place a tall bowl/jug on the scales prior to turning them on, this will elevate the item so the readout is visible.

The only time I sent a large package over 3kg, I weighed it in stages before putting it all together. The brand is 'Lumina', it might not be available in the US, but there's sure to be heaps of alternative brands and most likely cheaper over there too. Just search ebay for Kitchen Scales.

The 3kg one takes a 'button' battery, the 5kg one takes 2xAA batteries.
