Because demand for the 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set is expected to be high, customers are encouraged to place orders early. The 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set is available for $37.95.

Beginning May 10, 2006, at 12:00 noon (ET), customers can purchase the 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set online through the United States Mint's secure website at www.usmint.gov, or by calling toll-free 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) 8:00 a.m. to midnight (ET), seven days a week. Hearing- and speech-impaired customers may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468) 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET), Monday through Friday.

Just thought I would give everyone heads up that mean all proof sets will be out.

Thanks for the heads-up That reminded me to put in my subscription so I won't have to deal with trying to get into the Mint's website on day of release and fighting thousands of other people for an order.

Yes, get them from the mint. I have heard stories of secondary sellers such as ebay that they cherry pick the coins from the sets and replace them with lesser quality coins.

Dont believe so Bill, as I remember you will be getting all the quarters along with the regular denominations. That would make it a 10 coin set. The dime, quarters (5 of them) and the half will be silver.

2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set™ Available May 10

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint announced today that it will begin selling the 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set™ online and by telephone on May 10, 2006, at 12:00 noon (ET).

The 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set features proof versions of the five 2006 commemorative quarter-dollar coins in the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters® Program - honoring Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota and South Dakota - as well as the Roosevelt dime and the Kennedy half-dollar, all minted in lustrous 90 percent silver, historically known as "coin silver." Each of these beautiful silver proof coins has a distinctive cameo appearance created by the contrast of a finely detailed frosted foreground against a mirror-like background.

The United States Mint Silver Proof Set also includes a proof version of the "Return to Monticello" nickel - the final coin in the Westward Journey Nickel Series? - as well as the Golden Dollar and a Lincoln Cent.

Produced at the United States Mint at San Francisco, the coins bear the "S" mint mark. The sealed cases containing the coins are inserted into a specially printed sleeve and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Because demand for the 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set is expected to be high, customers are encouraged to place orders early. The 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set is available for $37.95.

Beginning May 10, 2006, at 12:00 noon (ET), customers can purchase the 2006 United States Mint Silver Proof Set online through the United States Mint's secure website at https://www.usmint.gov, or by calling toll-free 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) 8:00 a.m. to midnight (ET), seven days a week. As an added convenience, customers can participate in a Subscription Program in which specific products, such as the United States Mint Silver Proof Set, are charged and shipped to the customer automatically as each set is released. A shipping and handling fee of $4.95 per order will be added to all orders. Please allow approximately two to three weeks for delivery.

dont really, that is just what I have acustomed to doing and am signed up to receive 10 sets when they come out so thats what I buy. If they dont go up in value, I can always bust them out and get them graded by NGC or PCGS and then sell them individually, and then know I will make my money back. But I have proofsets from 1956 on up so far, the 56-61 havent even ever been opened yet (still sealed in the yellow envelopes).

yeah I guess I am going to have to buy the uncirculated counterparts of the proof coins I now have graded PF-70 by NGC because I didnt buy the uncirculated coins when I got the proof ones, I knew I should have but never thought they would sell out so quick. I think these coins will definately be one of the commemoratives that goes up in value because of them selling out so quick
