jprine Pillar of the Community United States 1599 Posts	Posted 08/09/2009 9:30 pm I have been identifying some foreign coins I have. I have two that I cannot find out what metal it is made of. Any help would be appreciated. I have a Polynesian 20 Franc and a Bahaman 5 cent peice. The Polynesian sticks to a magnet (so I think this rules out silver?) but the Bahaman does not. Anyone know? CuNi is usually 75% copper, and isn't strong enough for magnetic attraction to be apparent. The other coin: I'm assuming that the other coin has a colour resembling silver: it's probably CuNi, which is very popular around the world for coinage. Peter in Oz Report this Post to the Staff
