This was a recent purchase. After this, I am down to only 3 slots left in my 7070 type set. This coin was raw, and I believe the surfaces are original which is tough to find in this type. There looks to be a bit of crusty luster beneath the toning. I bought this thinking it was a minimum XF-40, more likely XF-45; but some on the other forum thought it might make AU. I'll get better photos when I have the coin in hand.

Very nice coin, from what I can see from your pictures this coin is very near AU. I'll say AU-50.

Agreed. That is a fine example. The reverse is just absolutely hammered.

$183.00 on da bay. I figured that to be a decent price for an XF, and a rip if the coin graded AU. There is a huge price difference between those two grades...:-) It was raw and the seller did not offer a grade. What was most attractive to me is the originality, since it seems that many of these, even some certified ones, look overdipped or hairlined. I'll post the link later.

thank you for all the comments! Keep them coming!

The Variety with the Rays behind the eagle is really cool. Good job on the Half.

I certainly hope you get what's in the photos. ebay is notorious for rip-offs. Have you dealt with the seller before?

Lovely coin and a great one year type.

Think yours is crusty? Mine is much crustier and lower grade but wanted to own one.
Finding them in original shape is indeed tough and I think yours is. I see them (especially the quarter) at work from time to time and almost always harshly cleaned.

Nice job.

Thank you for the comment Tony and it is well noted. ebay is certainly always a risk. The seller has perfect feedback and states that the coin pictured is the one that will be received. Though it states "no returns", I will certainly take action if he sends a different or fake coin

I have purchased about 95% of my coin collection off of ebay, with mostly satisfactory results. With over 200 purchases, I received one coin that was different from the one listed, and one coin that was counterfeit(that was a painful experience). Maybe 5 or 6 coins that were hiding defects...and I have never not received something.

I still think the coin may just be a well struck original 45, which would make what I paid not too far off market value considering the coin is raw and purchased in a struggling economy.

It's a great looking coin - I like it a lot.

Like you, I've always had really good luck with coins on ebay. Only one bad experience and the seller instantly refunded me including return shipping. I'm very selective though and probably look at hundreds of coins before I find one to buy.

Your 7070 is gonna rock...

I just love the Arrows and Rays Reverse! One of my favs. You have a nice one for the 7070 that's for sure.

I received the coin today, and it was about what I expected which is a good thing. I'm still sticking to XF-45, but I won't have any hurt feelings if others disagree in the coin's favor. The reverse has a lot more luster than the obverse, with some serious cartwheel action. However, I believe this is simply because the fields are really protected on the reverse, due to the plethora of raised devices, particularly the rays. Here are some updated pics:
