These coins were widely used in Ceylon ..." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Pulicat or alternatively: "Gelria - Latin name for the Dutch province of Gelderland" I seem to recall a previos CCF thread where I learned that the Dutch had lots of provincial mints in that era. When the Netherlands gained independence the Duchy of Gelderland was incorporated in the Dutch Republic as one of its provinces, keeping the title of being a duchy. Gelderland still is a province of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
