mrwisker Pillar of the Community United States 581 Posts	Posted 08/16/2009 3:45 pm I have been searching around ebay I am noticing an abundance of "satin finish" coins. They seem to be on the lower end of collectibility. MS69 coins seem to me fairly affordable. (searching only pcgs) Where are the satin finish coins from as opposed to the business strikes. Why would they be less desirable If they were proofs, they would be graded with a PF designation Report this Post to the Staff

The US Mint in their infinite wisdom for some reason decided to create yet anther variation of each coin ... I don't collect them myself but I understand some people do consider them part of a collection. I have limited my collections to "Business Strike" and Proof issues. It would be interesting to see how many people actually collect the satin finish coins. Report this Post to the Staff
Morgans Dad Pillar of the Community United States 5611 Posts	Posted 08/16/2009 5:33 pm While I do not collect these as a type coin, I do have them all, inc Proofs, because I collect U S Mint sets and Proof sets.... mowens16 Valued Member United States 120 Posts	Posted 08/16/2009 6:05 pm Morgans dad is correct, they started in US Mint Sets in 2005, the business strikes are still available from circulation coins, I am holding on to both till I see which way the wind blows as far as collectability. So anything MS68 or lower is just going to be a low end coin (so to speak) Report this Post to the Staff
