My uncle before he immigrated back to our homeland.

The engraving on it reads:
Limited Edition Hallmark Proof Set of the first Franklin Mint Collection of Sterling Silver Ship Ingots Minted Expressly for _________ (undisclosed name)

There are 50 total coins. They are a bunch of ships. There is a whole bunch of fluff included and an included instruction manual that is entitled "Ships of Silver." I do not know when my uncle originally purchased these coins but the receipt included has the winning bid as $412. It also says 2 oz sterling silver each 100 OZ T.W.I really have no clue how much this is worth today but I would estimate it has appreciated a great deal. Could someone please help?

I am in a very well financial state but I have always been very curious.

Thank you for the time.

One vital piece of information that I forgot to disclose was that my uncle gave me these coins around Winter of 2001. Thanks again.

If they are indeed sterling silver just the melt price of the silver for 92.5oz pure silver would put the value at $1,295.

For a 19 year old, that money will really help. Thank you so much.

When you mean just silver, with all the ship stuff (sorry I have no clue about coins at all), how much would the entire package end up going for?

These aren't "coins", they're ingots made by the Franklin Mint, a company that issued all sorts of coins and coin-like things back in the 1970's and 1980's. The company still exists, but has moved away from the coin market.

The silver bullion value ($1300 or so) is the absolute minimum you should get for them. You never know what kind of demand there might be for Franklin Mint "products", but the ship theme might entice people to pay slightly more for them.

Crestor, Welcome to the family, To go 1 step further than Cownas22 did, there are 2 values on this set, 1st the Silver melt value, the price someone would pay you just for the amount of silver you have( by the weight)I believe it would come to $12.95 per ounce. Then there is the Numismatic value, the value some one is willing to pay you for the "coins" for what the value of the simple fact that you have these coins and anyone who would want them would offer you In my opinion, another price altogether, any way, good luck, Mike...

The only thing is that you need to sell them to a collector if you really want to get that amount of money. Refiners fees are very expensive so if you sell to a dealer that is just going to melt them then you will get quite a bit less (only $1000).
