Well, I wouldn't exactly call that a slab, more like a plastic shell Notice that the seller has multiple pages of identical slabs- he is what is known as a "basement slabber" i.e. he is not a true TPG but just a guy slapping a label on a plastic shell down in his momma's basement That Eagle appears to have a few marks and spots, you would probably be better off buying a raw proof in the OGP(original govt packaging) or buying one grade by a legitimate TPG.

I think I might pass on that coin personally, I have never heard of NES, which means nothing to anyone but me. What does concern me is the upright Ray in the pic looks broken or very at a minimum a very weak strike. I don't think I would buy a slab that did not come from one of the big three graders.
Hope this helps,
Mike

My opinion ... as a newbie .... take a pass on this coin.
I suppose this is somebody in their basement cranking out slabs ..... whats up with "NES"?
Take a pass IMHO and spend you $$$ on something else.

I would pass on this one because I have never heard of NES. Must be someone that is churning up homemade slabs. You're better off getting one that is truly slabbed and certified by a legit TPG.

IMO, I would take Bio's advice and buy ALL original from the people you deal with. I also feel that the coin, in proof all original condition from Napoleon31ft, is a fine example of what you should be looking for.....

Yes this is a "fly-by-night" or a basement slabbing service, not to be confused with the original NES Numismatic Evaluation Service that debuted in Feb of 1986. I would pay a hefty premium for an NES certified coin from the original service. (It debuted at the same Long Beach show as PCGS. By the end of the show they realized that their photocertificates could not compete with the PCGS slabs and the company folded after just four days of operation. Only 46 NES certificates were ever issued. I'm only sure of one still in existence because it is owned by the company founder. I do own ten of the unissued certificates though, starting with serial number 49.)
