I've got a Peace dollar graded MS63 in an ICG slab. But is ICG a reliable TPG?

Yep, they would be one of the top 4 third party graders although they do tend to be a little liberal with moderns.

For a classic coin like this in a lower MS grade, I'd bet they graded it the same as, or at least within a point of, what any of the bigger TGPs would grade it.

However, they do not have the reputation or the PR budget of the big two (PCGS & NGC) and have not been around as long as #3 (ANACS).

So, it probably is graded correctly, but will probably not bring the same price. Good if you are buying, less good if you are selling.

ICG does a decent job except on moderns (too many MS70 coins). I go out of my way to look closely at ICG slabs for Morgans, Peace, Merc dimes, and other U.S. silver. There are some undergraded coins in those slabs. I haven't seen one yet that was overgraded by more than a point and have found several that were undergraded.

Yes, but just not as big as the top 3.. I purchased a few Canadian coins graded by them and sent them for cross grading and low and behold out of 10 coins only 1 graded 1 point lower

Hello Atrdio,

Could I ask who you sent them to for cross grading and were they in or out of the IGC holder?
