So I was at a dealer's shop and he had a bunch of slabs from NuGrade Service. I know to always buy the coin and not the holder. On most of the coins, the grades seemed like utter bs, almost on the lines of SGS and WCG, but then I got to lincolns (my babies) and they seemed reasonable. I actually purchased several (at about $2/ea, $20 for the best ones graded MS-67 by them). One of them I even think is undergraded...and would probably be an MS-66 at NGC and NuGrade gave it MS-65. Anybody have any experience?

You can't go wrong for $2 each. Sounds like he wants to move them out of his inventory. I bought a 1999 Roosevelt dime (rainbow toned, probably doctored) a long time ago that was "graded" MS70 by some TPGS I never heard of. Interesting conversation piece. Got at a yard sale for $1. Under a loupe, this coin has obvious contact marks throughout. I grade a 64 at best!

The TPG was SGS.

Sounds to me like you exercised due diligence, and got rewarded for it.

But what's the story on NuGrade. Are they a reliable TPG?

They are not even a real TPG, much less a reliable one. Just some guy slabbing his own inventory and nothing more(just like most of the plastic tombs).

As far as I know they are not even recognised TPG... Much like the new one NCS.. Heavily overgraded

as was said they are not a real third party grader, their slabs started turning up around 2004 and most of their coins are over graded but a good eye can find deals in any slab as long as the buyer knows the series and can grade that series. I have bought a few basement slabs because the price was right and even though the coin wasn't actually graded correctly it was worth what I paid
