I recently bought a usb digital microscope that doesn't have any light control so I was trying different things to reduce the light that was causing a lot of glare. My nephew cut some circles out of copy paper to fit inside the plastic end to block the light, I use two layers to cut down the glare a little. Today I came up with an idea to cover the LED bulbs. I can cover one bulb or two or all if need be. I bought a package of peg board hooks at a discount store for a dollar and on the end of each hook is a rubber tip that with a little cutting fits over the bulb. Just wanted to let you know about my idea, maybe this will help some of you.

G'day, and thankyou: lighting is always critical in photography, especially with shiny coins.
By covering the LED "bulb" with plastic, isn't some heat building up in there?
I know that LED "burns" a lot cooler than previous species of bulb, but that's not to say that zero heat is generated ...
I'm thinking of getting a USB microscope myself, so I'm very interested to know more about them.

I have covered them with what I think is rubber not plastic and had them on for about an hour with no problem so far.

That's a great idea, I have tried many things and now I will try this, It would seem there is toooo much light on this microscope and you would not believe what I have tried!
