Is there a difference in value on an American Eagle Silver Dollar MS 70 that is graded by ANACS as opposed to NGC or PCGS? I've seen alot of coins for sale that are certified by NGC or PCGS but not ANACS... why is this?

Jeff,

You need to visit the thread on TPGs (Third Party Graders). Value in resale is enhanced by a TPG's reputation. The tighter the grading standard, the higher the resale value normally. PCGS is the industry-recognized leader and is followed by NGC and ANACS. In my opinion an NGC or ANACS MS70 ASE would equate to a PCGS MS69.

Normally I urge folks to buy the coin within rather than the grade thereon. I cannot distinguish between MS69 and MS70. Both would appear technically perfect, but the difference would be eye appeal and strike boldness. Only by reviewing thousands of examples would one be able to identify the "true" MS70.
