I was high bidder on this Franklin commem: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWN:IT&rd=1 on 4/29, and I sent a paypal payment out the same day. Today I was checking, and the seller is "not a registered user" He has 100% pos fb from 500+ folks, and got 2 positives today from buyers. Any insight, concerns I should have, or actions I should take? Thanks! Don

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of the system now. That exact thing happened to me about 90 days ago. 100% positive feedback - PayPal payment for $24 made at close and the NEXT day the seller was NO LONGER REGISTERED. My emails went unanswered. So I started the dispute process. However, ebay and PayPal are no help. $24 is too small an amount. Just this morning they sent me an email saying that the time limit was UP. So I checked the status of the dispute and the seller never responded to them. So I tried to escallate the dispute. But becuase the $25 limit was not reached - ebay closed the dispute. All I could do was to send an email AGAIN to the seller to complain. Live an learn - any bid with a new seller is a risk. The guarantees from ebay and PayPal are worthless. You are ON YOUR OWN. You can't even leave a NEGATIVE for the thief.

Hi Don Im not sure if you have already done this or not, But go ahead and get the seller info, call the person on the phone (was this seller a paypal confirmed seller?) Find out whats going on and if you will be recieving your purchase, if you cannot contact him file with ebay and paypal,I think there is a waiting period before you can file but go through the process when appropriate. If you get a phone number to call call it regularly and often !! This kind of stuff really irritates me !!! Rick

appreciate the responses. Rick I don't recall if he was a confirmed seller or not. As I said he had over 500 + fbs with no negs or neutrals (although interestingly, about half are from sellers, and his 270 positives are all since jan 06)and has been registered since 03. I hadn't checked, but on clicking his "ID history" I get this: User ID Effective Date EndDate morefunthanabarrelofwheatpenniesJul-14-03 Not a registered user *********@wmata.com Oct-10-00 Jul-14-03 It is frustrating that ebay does not notify "winners" of an auction when they NARU someone, and frustrating that they don't give reasons. And here, how on earth does ebay justify hiding someone's former user ID " ebay hides parts of User IDs with "*" to protect member privacy." I've sent him a messge through the ebay system and to the email address where I sent the paypal payment. How do I get a phone number for him? I sent this payment with funds coming directly out of my checking account rather than via CC, specifically because paypal states that that option provides buyer protection. Don

Do in your my ebay page ,there should be a find a member topic, select that and follow it through to get seller info enter the Item number and ebay will email you the sellers information they have on file, phone # address, and whatever they have for the seller. when the wait period is up file with pay pal for Item not received and you should win hands down and be refunded , that is if any thing is left in the seller account to refund from . Sorry this kinda junk happens to very good people !!! ebay owes the buyers more than they are willing to admit !! Rick

A happy ending. Today, in my mail box, the Franklin FF commem, nicely wrapped and mailed out Mon. I also received an email from the seller. He stated that he understood my concern, and that he had shipped the coin priority mail on Mon. He also said that the NARU was a surprise, and that ebay had given him no explaination for their action. It surprised me that someone with 270some prefect FBs (and I didn't read them all, but the ones I did read made seller sound professional) would suddenly have a problem. Appreciate the responses. Don

Don, I'm happy it worked out well for you. This was a new example for me; I never have had the experience of having a seller NARU'd on me before during a transaction. What is even more frightening is that the seller was NARU'd by ebay for no apparent reason, seemingly a random hit on a perfectly good eBayer. I also read a few of his feedbacks and he appears to have a sterling record, is almost a perfect customer with fast payments and shipments. Reminds me of the old Soviet Union when they would take a bunch of really bad commanders and shoot them; then, just to keep the other commanders on the edge, would take a couple good commanders and shoot them too. Problem in this instance is ebay shot the wrong guy. I hope he can get reinstated.

Perhaps the seller didn't pay his ebay fees and got shut down.

This would be my guess. He certainly doesn't seem to have done anything dishonest. Isn't it interesting how quickly ebay will respond if they don't get paid though? I'm almost positive that's what happened to this seller.

I hadn't thought of that. I pay my ebay fees by monthly automatic charges to a credit card and don't give the matter a second thought since it's a relatively painless procedure (after all, it's only money). ebay sends me my nonthly statement by email and I just file it in my Accounting folder, knowing the bill will be paid with no further action on my part. But, it's a very logical and rational explanation for becoming NARU'd. Perhaps his credit card expired and he hadn't updated it with ebay. Come to think of it, maybe I should check my account; I have an expired credit card which has not yet been replaced since the Post Office messed up (gee, something new! ).

Our debit card expired and we were NARU'd right away (even though the bill wasn't due yet). This is the one thing that they act on very quickly. It would be nice if a little reminder was sent or something, but I guess that would take too much time. Since we had them charging the invoice directly to our debit card, which takes the funds from our bank account, we never thought twice about it expiring. We probably never even would have realized if ebay hadn't NARU'd us since we weren't using it for anything else.
