Hi,
I have a lot of experience with ebay and I know there have been alot of changes recently. I had something just happen that was new. The item was listed at 99 cents (Yes, I'm a big spender ) with no bids.

When I put in my bid at one dollar, it was not accepted. It said I needed to bid $1.04 or higher. Canceled the bid and returned to the item. Still listed as no bidders. Then I bid $1.04 and it showed two bidders.

Was it just luck that I bid as someone else was putting in a bid? Is there a way to put in bids that hold until someone else bids? Or is this a way to have a teaser price and then jump the bid?

By the way it makes no difference to me, as I am not paying more than a dollar for this coin with shipping prices so high. There are lots of this coin variety at $1 and eventually I will get one if the shipping is not too much.

Thanks for the input -- Terrell

Sometimes there is a lag between what is showed under the search and what the active auction shows.

I am thinking you are more referring to once inside the individual auction itself. Then all bids should show. If not then two things could have happened:

1- During the time you had opened the individual item and were viewing the page, someone else put in a bid.

2- Your browser didn't restore the page to its most current display. The clock and countdown may still tick away but the auction and any updates may not show.

Like you said, not the end of the world, but nice to keep a level playing field with .50 or .50k, it is your hard earned money.

Thanks RFB

I thought might be occurring. What bothered me was that I left the item description and returned later. I was still showing no bids in the description. The second visit, I bid $1.04 and another bid magically appeared (It was for $1.00), so my bid is the highest currently. If they bid again, they'll win.
