The 43's are made of zinc coated steel, because the copper was being used for the war.

yep yep thats exactely what a 43 is made out of, I have quite a few of them bugers here, you would think they would be alot rarer than they are since they only did it for that year but it seems they made quite a few billions of them that year and they are plentiful even in uncirculated condition

I agree with scoutjim. you have to ask questian to learn. that is the whole reason I come to this forum is to learn and no questian is silly or dumb. make yourself feel at home and ask all the qustian you want and I am sure someone will be able to answer you.

Hi sn31

These zinc plated steel cents were mainted at all three mints, so will find coins not only with the D mint but also S and no mint mark like the photo Bobby shared which is philadelphia .

If you go in search of the other two to have a complete set,, be aware that many of these were replated,, These coins tarnish rather quickly and turn a dull grey color ,, be careful of very bright raw coins .

Thank you for making me feel welcome.Iappreciate all your responses, and knowledge of coins. This
one is a dull grey color, but really seems okay
for it's condition,now that I know my eyes aren't
playing tricks on me.thanks again.sn31.
