I know I have posted this before and got mixed answers but I would like to know if anyone has a picture of a certified 1830 Large Letters Bust Half and if what my bust half is.
Thanks

Here are photos of the only example currently listed in the Heritage auction archives. This coin is graded XF45 by PCGS and sold for over $6,000 in 2007. It was described as the O-114 variety. The Overton book states this is an R-8 rarity variety, so it's pretty darn scarce. If you have one, congratulations!

Sadly, it looks like your coin is not the O-114 variety, or at least it does not match this PCGS XF45 example from Heritage. Check the alignment of the E in E PLURIBUS against the D in UNITED. On the Heritage coin the upright of the E is almost exactly lined up with the upright of the D. On your coin, the E is clearly positioned to the right of this location. Unless I'm missing something, I think that rules out the possibility for O-114.

The photo of O-122 in Overton looks like a closer match for your coin. Are there any other Bust Half fans that want to weigh in on this coin?

1830's are subdivided by the size of the zero in the date, and this one looks like a Small 0 to me. My guess is O-102.

thank you, the reason I asked the the other half of the picture is because its hard to give a grade of the coin when all you can see is half of one of the sides. when a coin is below XF condition my grading skills diminish quickly I will guess this coin is in the Fine range

O-102 is the Overton number assigned to the die marriage. Some Overton numbers are rarer than other in this case the O-114 is allot more rare than the O-102 so the value is allot less

What would a fair price be if I ever go to sell it(if it is the O-102 variety)?

I would then guess this 1830 is a large 0? Large letters or not? Any one?

Again, the letters aren't relevant for 1830's - they're all the same. I agree, it looks like a Large 0, O-122 (R1) I think. Old, worn die which has to be considered when grading; as a result it's probably close to 5 points higher than the strict appearance might indicate.
