This article was in my paper this morning. Note near the end of the article one of the things police found in this guy's house. Hope he isn't a Forum member!

G'day & thankyou, we had a similar case where I live. Bloke worked for a freight company, and lifted anything he thought he could get away with. Never had much of a plan as to how to benefit from it, apparently, so when he was caught, 10 years worth of stolen goods were recovered.

In a dead-bolt locked closet in the house, police said, were narcotics, guns, more than $2,400 in cash and 17 boxes of rolled pennies worth about $6,000.

Hummmm...they mean worth $425. It'd take 240 boxes to be $6k.

Glad they busted the guy.

There's the official $25 box of pennies that all us coin collectors and bankers know about - and then there's the box of pennies in some guy's closet that might be any size. That might account for the difference.

I just looked in my clostet, and there are more than 17 boxes of cents, that are not opened yet! That is $425.00. Then there aere the other boxes, like the quarter boxes, that have been filled with solid date rolls, of cents, 65 to a box. Still can't come up with $6000.00 dollars worth, and $2,40.00 in cash. He had to have had boxes of other denominations of coins. Now if there were half dollars in boxes, ay $500.00 to a box, or quarters, at$500.00 a box, etc, then maybe there might be $6000.00. BUT NOT 17 boxes of pennys! How long had this guty been 'doing his thing", before the "Fuzz", caught him? Nearly 25 years? Not only the Police department, were not on the ball, but the company he w"orked" for were mnot too bright!
