The latest CCN trends:
VF-20 $175.00 EF-40 $250.00
So the price seems about right for full retail.

In 2005 11 coins of the same grade by ICCS sold on ebay. Average price was $135 Canadian.

The pictures aren't that great, but from what I understand, ICCS is pretty accurate in their grading and are highly respected for Canadian coins.

Susan, Thank You for your insight. It certainly helps.I have e-mailed the seller asking for better pictures, but he tells me it's hard to photograph that coin better. He offers though full refund if I'm not satisfied.
zonad, Thank You for the prices.I think I know your name from the Canadian Coins Reference site forum.I read that forum, even though I never posted. It looks like the price is about right to high. The seller had other offers, but he denied.Your replies will help me decide either way.

Since ICCS doesn't slab their coins in a hard holder, it may not be possible to get better pics than he did. That's the only drawback to ICCS. I hope that one day they will start using hard slabs.

ICCS is the grader of choice for Canadian collectors of Canadian coins. Of the 17700 graded business strike coins sold on ebay last year over 16000 were graded by ICCS. Here's a picture of two 1900 25 cent pieces. Both are in ICCS holders. Notice the difference in spacing in the date. I discovered the varieties in Edmonton in November at the coin show. Zonad, you seem to have a lot more knowledge about ICCS than I do. Do you know why they use soft holders rather than hard ones for the coins?

I think the main reason they only offer the soft holder is to keep the price down. You can send them 100 coins and get them graded for $6 Canadian each!!! The people at ICCS are not likely to change as long as people continue to use their service as it is.

Since January of 2003 I have entered all the PCGS,NGC,ICCS and CCCS graded Canadian coins which sold on ebay into spreadsheets. Around 65,000 sales in total. I then compile the info from a years sales into a report with average prices where more that one coin of a type/grade sold. Comments are also noted and if a coin is cleaned or polished I don't enter the data unless the coin is extremely rare. I spend at least an hour a day 7 days a week at it. Crazy

With their grading prices so reasonable, I can see where their customers wouldn't be clamoring for any changes. That's a really great deal for an accurate grade.
