The penny is normal in all respects but it appears to be made of silver/gold... I say that because just based on the color of the metal, white with a bit of gold in there ( I doubt there is any gold there but just looks like silver/gold).

I guess the question is, what is it worth. I also have a nickel made out of the same material as a penny... not sure what year but I am guessing 1960 - 1980... anybody ever heard of something like this?

First I would like to say Hello. I am new here, and after reading several post I am pretty sure I know next to nothing, trust me.

I have beem collecting coins since I was 4. My father use to manage a chain of stores for ten years an he was get all the odd coins, silver etc and he would give it me.

I have a large collection that seems to keep growing via gifts and purchases but I finaly I i have decided to make the time organize my collection and figure out what I have, because I really have no idea, and I really would enjoy doing that.

Hi

Since your in the canadian forum, should I assume that these coins are canadian ?

Its Hard to tell anything about the coins without pics, unless it is to say that in both instances these coins can be altered to appear as you have described,, Now having said that there are also legitimate errors that can also appear as you have described.

Please post pics !!

Thanks
Rick

Welcome to the forum StupidSid.

I agree without a picture it is hard to comment on any coin.

See if you can upload a clear picture for members to look at.

Also enjoy your hobby

Thanks. Canadian Yes.

The cent has alot of shine to it... It does not look it was painted or anything... It is not even close to any penny I have seen, infact it really does not match up with any metal from any canadian coins I have ever seen.

I never scaned anything or uploaded it, I don't even have a scanner but I will be going north to my sisters house next weekend and I will see if I can get this up for u guys.
